Perhapanauts "Perfect Cover" Pin-Up Contest (brush —The Perhapanauts © Todd Dezago & Craig Rousseau) ENGLISH.- The story goes like this:some weeks ago,Todd Dezago made a post on his blog about Carmine Infantino's 7 Covers That Always Sell —a series of elements said to be the most effective for selling more copies. Then he mentioned that said elements should be used in a cover of The Perhapnauts comic book.As a fan of the series I thought it sounded like fun so I drew the image you see here (↑). Paleo (technical pen, brush & digital color —Minna,Umo & Toro © Marina Neira) Aliens, cavemen and dinosaurs...you can't go wrong with that combination,ah? The characters depicted are the protagonists of Paleo,a webcomic written and drawn by Marina Neira. If you like cute and funny stuff, you must go and read the comic.Plus,as I said,it features aliens, cavemen and dinosaurs —in a most peculiar way,as you can see. ¡Patomas! (technical pen, marker & digital stuff — Patomas/Paperinik/Duck Avenger ™ & © Disney) I drew thisone in 3 stages:a technical pen sketch done while I was waiting for someone that invited me to dinner.Back at home I thought about doing an all-digital image but there was a blackout. So I lit some candles and tried to read a book, but after some minutes I changed my mind and polished the sketch with a marker. And the next day,I finished it. I case you wonder what's the deal of depicting Donald Duck with a cape a gun (really neat idea,uh?),well, the answer is that he has this cool alter ego as Patomas (a.k.a. Duck Avenger a.k.a. Paperinik). As usual, for more info, you can check the corresponding Wikipedia article. Tags: animals, fan-art, superheroes Status: Soundtrack: Dig For Fire - Pixies |

A Mad Tea Party (brush & digital post-production) I drew this illo some weeks ago but forgot to post it before.Nevermind,I'm doing it now. These characters are from the webcomic series A Mad Tea Party, currently featured at Jonathon Dalton's website. It's a pretty cool sci-fi story about Japan in the future, two sisters with altered genes, social issues, and a flying car.I could tell you more about it but you really should go read it along with all the other stories that Jonathon has made.Wonderful and highly recommended. ¡Santo! ¡Santo! ¡Santo! (marker and a lot of photoshop stuff) Today's is/was the 25th anniversary of El Santo's death. And since I grew up watching his movies and wanting to be like him, well, the least I could do was drawing a little homage piece. Why the Alien? Well, because many people remember him fighting against vampires, werewolves and the Frankenstein monster in his movies, but they usually miss the point that he was actually fighting against the Universal monsters ®.Okay, some facsimiles actually, but that was the original idea.Keeping the same logic,if El Santo were still alive in this century, his movies would be featuring movie monsters from the '80s.My first idea was using Chucky from the Child's Play franchise, but in the end I choose the Alien because it fitted best the sci-fi element used in Santo's movies. The King Redux (paperless image) Funny thing about this illo:I started drawing it in my old computer on New Year's Day,and finished it last night in my new one.I don't know about you,but it still amazes me the miracle of transferring files from one machine to another. As for the illo itself, well,it's a companion piece (read:unoriginal sequel) of this other image featuring another king.Wonder if I should try doing another couple of kings,so there can be a full deck of silly kitchyness. ¡¡¡Gradiosísimo Año Nuevo!!! (paperless image) So...I guess this is a nice day for starting a brand new year. And many of you out theere already know, today is also my LJ-versary (?!).Yup,it's been 43,848 hours more or less (that's 5 years) since I put my first post around here. And you know what? It's been —and still is— quite a fun and terrific ride. And I know I say this every year, but I must do it again:Thank You,All Of You Awesome People Out There That I've Met In This Place. And for the other anonymous ones that only lurk and read...a Big Thank You as well. Hope all and everyone stay here,so we all can share a year to remember.Do you feel ready for that? Let's go and just do it! Ah,but there's something more I'd like to share with you today: ( Behind the cut:a year in review —either the most cute post I've done so far...or the cheesiest ) Tags: abril, animals, celebs, comics, dinosaurs, double feature, fan-art, fatalysia, girls, greeting cards, myth, out of time, photoshop, samy, stuff, superheroes Status: Soundtrack: Beat On The Brat - The Ramones |

Behold! The Crime Syndicate! (brush and digital stuff —Crime Syndicate ™ & © DC Comics) I drew this one some months ago,but for one reason or another I forgot to post it. Well then, this is my version of the Crime Syndicate,a typical concept from silly comic books.I mean,Why a syndicate? Can crime be like a dayjob, and so you need to join a syndicate? Oh,and then, this group of criminals is also integrated by evil twins of the members of the Justice League. From an alternate world, where everything is the opposite —like, good is evil, black is white and vitamins are in candy and junk food. As I said,a typical concept from silly comic books —but that's part of the fun,you know. Tags: fan-art, girls, superheroes Status: Soundtrack: Such a beautiful girl like you - Pizzicato Five |

片腕マシンガール (brush and digital color) Last week I watched The Machine Girl and loved it.Maybe it won't win an Oscar but I simply like gore movies with cheap but creative effects. Also,I'm such a sucker for girls with guns. And as you can guess,I just had to draw a tribute piece —so here's Ami,the titular girl,in all her yakuza and ninja slaying glory. My first idea was doing a black and white piece so it would look like a manga page (some people keep telling me a lot that my style looks like manga —oddly,I'm a fan of Japanese pop culture but I don't read much manga at all).In the end I choose coloring it,so I could have a companion piece for the Cherry & Ash illo I made earlier.
