Perhapanauts "Perfect Cover" Pin-Up Contest

Perhapanauts Perfect Cover
(brush —The Perhapanauts © Todd Dezago & Craig Rousseau)

ENGLISH.- The story goes like this:some weeks ago,Todd Dezago made a post on his blog about Carmine Infantino's 7 Covers That Always Sell —a series of elements said to be the most effective for selling more copies. Then he mentioned that said elements should be used in a cover of The Perhapnauts comic book.As a fan of the series I thought it sounded like fun so I drew the image you see here (↑).
More people liked the idea and in a matter of hours a pin-up contest was born! A few days later I colored the illo.
Well, the results of the contest were announced last Sunday night, and don't tell anyone but I won.
Cool,ain't it?

Chido,¿no?

Original & Copy

Sin City Redux
(brush & digital media —Sin City ™ & © Frank Miller)

Sin City
Well, there's this blog known as Covered ([info]coveredblog) which is about artists taking old comic book covers and redoing them on their own styles.
As you can see and guess,I submitted my version of the cover of issue #5 of Sin City:A Dame To Kill For (seen right there →).
And I got rejected. But that's okay, since I finally have the chance of posting the image here —I drew it weeks ago,but the guy on charge of Covered asks you to not publish your images until he does first,or in this case, until he tells you he won't be posting the image.

Anyways,I'll leave up to you to judge if I improved Frank Miller's cover or if I destroyed it.

Las 100 Razones Por Las Cuales No Existen Superhéroes Mexicanos

100 Razones Por Las Cuales Nos Hay Superhéroes Mexicanos
(brush and photoshop —Samy,Asti & Doriancito © -U! a.k.a. Uriel A. Duran;Supergirl,Robin & Spider-man ™ & © their respective corporations)

ENGLISH.- Some years ago I made a series of 100 cartoons showing why currently there are no Mexican superheroes —or more exactly, the reasons why you don't see any of the most popular superheroes in Mexico.
I used to have those cartoons hosted at an old GeoCities website —yeah, ancient technology,I know, and because of that I've just relocated the cartoons to a new Blogspot website. And now, there's some improved navigation,English translations and notes for each cartoon so you can understand the jokes even if you're not Mexican.
So,What are you waiting for? Just click the link and go visit The 100 Reasons Why There Ain't No Mexican Super-heroes.And don't forget to tell your friends!

Ah,but there's something more I'd like to share with you today:
Behind the cut:a year in review —either the most cute post I've done so far...or the cheesiest )

Out Of Time III

Out Of Time 3
(marker and digital post-production)

I'm not sure if this page is funny at all in English,as it had many puns that were hard to translate.Puns in English are said to be the lowest form of humor, but in Spanish they are a form of wit —sure, there are some bad puns in Spanish, but most words are longer and more complex than in English and making any kind of word play needs a good timing and very good observation skills. The original version of this comic is based upon the pun that in Spanish the word for 'vaccine' is 'vacuna',which also means both 'cattle' and 'cow-related'.

This is also the last page of Out Of Time.It seems the magazine that published this project has been cancelled.
Oh swell. It was fun while it lasted.

Out Of Time II

Out Of Time II
(marker and digital post-production)

For your enjoyment (?),here's the second "chapter" of the Tiempo Fuera/Out Of Time project.I know that there's no historic evidence about Nero personally starting the great fire of the year 64 AD,but well, there's no historic evidence that he didn't.
By the by,in the Mexican rock scene, there's a slang word for guitar:lira —that's lyre, just like the ancient instrument.Probably for this English version I should had changed the lyre for a fiddle but then again, fire ain't that usual on violin concerts,ah?
