Yuki Show Wrap-up!

Man, last Friday was so much fun! I can't even explain how cool it was to finally show people the book and see their reactions as they flipped through it. Meeting everyone and signing books was awesome, the drinks were great, the music was sweet - but most of all it was amazing to have my whole family there from Texas and Colorado and my old friends from Seattle and Portland. I think it'll definitely go down as one of the best nights of my life. Thank you so much to everyone who came out, and also thanks to Ben, Wade, and Lin at Nucleus for hosting the show!

Before I get to the photos, I wanted to let you know that all 4 of the Yuki 7 French movie posters are now up for sale at Fleet Street! Each one is a limited edition of 50, 3-color screenprint on cream-colored paper, and LARGE (12"x24"!)

Now onto the photos! These were taken by my awesome friend Dan Cole of Gritbox Photography!

closing up shop!

My friends & family were nice enough to help me pack up all of the pre-ordered books over the weekend too. This is just the first half of what we packed. I ended up mailing well over 300 packages this week!

So the books are making their way around the world right now, and I hope everyone who ordered one enjoys it when it arrives. Please feel free to leave a comment here, on the Yuki Fan Page, or send me an e-mail to let us know what you think!

note to my students

I know some of you were looking forward to hearing from me this week. I've been sick with a nasty summer cold all week. I will get in touch as soon as my brain isn't all wonky. Sorry for the delay.

Bostie Boys Artwork

Sail1

As we’ve blogged already, The Bostie Boys is our cartoony Bowery Boys/Fleischer-inspired short we are currently working on.  While we are producing the cartoon in color, we will ultimately output it in black and white.  Here are some layouts, renders, and final B&W effects

The Welcoming

Mars Attacks!
Hello Pulp Friends,

John, one of the cool folks who commissioned me art at Heroes Con sent me the scan of the Mars Attacks! drawing I did for him at the show and I couldn't resist to dress those inks up a bit, especially considering the pulp nature of the subject ;)

Attached both the original sketch (well, the scan of it I received from John) and the final color version.
Hope you guys dig this little tribute to the classic Topps card set :)

Cheers,
Francesco

Thiomucase

Carolina Attia directed and designed this spot for Thiomucase, a skin-tightening cream. It’s a charming, uncomplicated solution for advertising an oddball product.

Noise du Jour: “Electro Gypsy” by Savlonic

I guess I’ll just go ahead and post this myself, as it’s been the topic in #ectomo for the past week, and also as none of my typewriting monkeys pay a goddamn bit of attention when I scream POST THAT anymore.

The topic for #ectomo is: Hitler sings a song about Qais and his pink robot horse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3jh84Lt9s4

You like anthropomorphic animals in people clothes, don’t you? I thought so. Then you’ll like the drawings of Lisa Hanawalt.

She’s on Flickr, too.
