1+1

1+1
(marker,pen and digital stuff)

And here's yet another illo submitted to the Custom 52 website.Of course,I just had to include Little Red Riding Hood in the set
And yeah, this can also be seen as an alternative version of Beauty & The Beast.

This was fun illo to do because it shows one of the things I firmly believe in:in this world,if you haven't kissed a dog —or a Big Bad Wolf in this case— at least once you have never lived. When I was younger and brattier,I did it at least twice and trust me,it was really good...but then again I always have been what they call a dog-person so I'm partial in my point of view.

Perhapanauts "Perfect Cover" Pin-Up Contest

Perhapanauts Perfect Cover
(brush —The Perhapanauts © Todd Dezago & Craig Rousseau)

ENGLISH.- The story goes like this:some weeks ago,Todd Dezago made a post on his blog about Carmine Infantino's 7 Covers That Always Sell —a series of elements said to be the most effective for selling more copies. Then he mentioned that said elements should be used in a cover of The Perhapnauts comic book.As a fan of the series I thought it sounded like fun so I drew the image you see here (↑).
More people liked the idea and in a matter of hours a pin-up contest was born! A few days later I colored the illo.
Well, the results of the contest were announced last Sunday night, and don't tell anyone but I won.
Cool,ain't it?

Chido,¿no?

Piggies!

Piggies
(marker & digital color)

This is a new design made for the Custom 52 project. If you want to see how the image looks like as a playing card, just go to said website.

As I mentioned some posts ago I decided to play with the titles of gothic fairy tales,so,yeah, this illo is about the 3 Little Pigs. But if you look closely, you can see that in the image there're 4 pigs —or rather 3 pigs and a boar.
By the by,it is said that it's posible to analyze the personality of a person by the way one draw a pig.In fact,if you google «draw a pig personality test» you can find many online tests that let you draw pigs and then analize your personality. Some years ago I made one of said tests and originally made a post about it on my personal blog.If you don't want to click from one place to another, here's what I drew back then (I'll let you choose which one of all the pigs shows my personality more accurately):
Pig

Original & Copy

Sin City Redux
(brush & digital media —Sin City ™ & © Frank Miller)

Sin City
Well, there's this blog known as Covered ([info]coveredblog) which is about artists taking old comic book covers and redoing them on their own styles.
As you can see and guess,I submitted my version of the cover of issue #5 of Sin City:A Dame To Kill For (seen right there →).
And I got rejected. But that's okay, since I finally have the chance of posting the image here —I drew it weeks ago,but the guy on charge of Covered asks you to not publish your images until he does first,or in this case, until he tells you he won't be posting the image.

Anyways,I'll leave up to you to judge if I improved Frank Miller's cover or if I destroyed it.

Paleo

Paleo
(technical pen,brush & digital color —Minna,Umo & Toro © Marina Neira)

Aliens,cavemen and dinosaurs...you can't go wrong with that combination,ah?
The characters depicted are the protagonists of Paleo,a webcomic written and drawn by Marina Neira. If you like cute and funny stuff, you must go and read the comic.Plus,as I said,it features aliens, cavemen and dinosaurs —in a most peculiar way,as you can see.

Blanche Neige et Les 7 Crânes

Blanche Neige et les 7 Crânes
(brush & digital color)

I made this illo for the online project Custom 52.
If you don't understand French, the title of the piece means 'Snow White and the 7 Skulls'.I've been thinking about submiting a few more designs using the concept of playing with titles of gothic fairy tales...I know,I can be very predictable sometimes but I think that could be a fun concept for illustrating some playing cards.
Then again,I'm open to suggestions if you got them.

¡Patomas!

Patomas - Paperinik - Super Donald
(technical pen,marker & digital stuff — Patomas/Paperinik/Duck Avenger ™ & © Disney)

I drew thisone in 3 stages:a technical pen sketch done while I was waiting for someone that invited me to dinner.Back at home I thought about doing an all-digital image but there was a blackout. So I lit some candles and tried to read a book, but after some minutes I changed my mind and polished the sketch with a marker. And the next day,I finished it.

I case you wonder what's the deal of depicting Donald Duck with a cape a gun (really neat idea,uh?),well, the answer is that he has this cool alter ego as Patomas (a.k.a. Duck Avenger a.k.a. Paperinik). As usual, for more info, you can check the corresponding Wikipedia article.

You said I look like who...?

It is said that graphic artists can't help drawing one or many characters like themselves. And then, some people have been telling me that indeed some of my characters look like me —or that I look like them.

???

In order of rows:
Doriancito.- Many people think that he is a self-portrait of me as a child, and in fact I've been associated with his image so many times that I use him as an userpic on many social networks. But I can tell you that he was never meant to be a self-portrait.

Susan.- The female protagonist of Fatalysia.Personally I think the only similar characteristics I share with her are dark hair and sleepwalking now and then.Still a girl recently told me that she thought Susan was me if I were female ( )

Chivo.-If I were not an artist, surely I would be a guitar player,so probably I projected that part of myself on him.But besides that I don't think that he's me in comic book form as some people keep telling me.

Abril.-I created her back in college as kind of a spokesperson for my stuff (my degree is in marketing and graphic design,y'know). But many people seem to think that she's me in drag ( )

The O'Lanterns.-The same girl that said that I was like Susan also said that these living pumpkins look like me,or at least as if they were my sons ( )

Me.-No,that's not a creature from a lost horror film, that's me,just for your reference

Any opinions? Do the characters I draw look like me? Or is it me the one that looks like a cartoon?

Choose A Cat,Draw A Girl

Art Meme Time!
The rules,as announced by [info]harveyjames were these:
1) look at these cats

2) Pick one!

3) Draw it as a REAL GIRL. A human being! Do it on a white background, like the cats you see above.

I will photoshop all the entries into one image, so it'll be a truly collaborative work of art!

See larger versions of the images on my site, or click the cats wearing hats tag. Happy drawing! You have until Saturday!

I choose these ones:
harveyjames' catgirls

And here behind the cut is what I drew: )

UPDATE 13/May/2009 11:09 am.- The final image is up.
