Rock and Atom (or is it Astro and Mega?)

I wonder why no one both in Japan and the U.S. has thought about producing a crossover with the 2 most powerful robot boys.No matter if it's in a manga,an anime movie or a videogame,it surely would be lots of fun coolness.And it would make things go full circle,since Mega Man is clearly influenced by Astro Boy —and then,in the last animated series they even gave Astro an arm cannon like Mega Man's (in lieu of his original but politically incorrect machine guns deployed from his butt).

Oh well,it costs nothing to daydream and draw,isn't it?

Reacción Temporada 4

ENGLISH.- And finally,after a quite long period of reruns,next Monday May 12th will premiere the 4th Season of Reacción (as some of you out there already know,that's the infotainment micro-radio show that I write scripts for).
The show airs,as usual,via Reactor —on the 105.7 of Mexico City's FM,with a cybercast on real time.Reacción airs at 11:30 am,with a repetition on the same day at 3:30 pm (Central Time;few minutes earlier or few minutes later depending of the mood and punctuality of the radio operator currently on the control console).5 micro-episodes,from Monday through Friday,with a brand new topic each week.The show is in Spanish,I'm afraid.

As an small advance,these will be the first 5 topics:
1) Chaos Theory (topic begins on Monday May 12th)
2) Mayan Civilization (May 19th)
3) Coffee (May 26th)
4) New Age (June 2nd)
5) Memetics (June 9th)

Ah,and by the way,previous episodes are available as a podcast.

ESPAÑOL.- Y pues finalmente,tras un periodo un poco largo de repeticiones,el próximo lunes 12 de Mayo se estrenará la 4ª Temporada de Reacción (que como muchos ya sabrán,es el micro-show radiofónico semanal de infoentretenimiento que tengo a bien guionizar).
El programa se transmite,como ya es costumbre,por Reactor —en el 105.7 de la FM chilanga,con cybercast en tiempo real.Reacción se transmite a las 11:30 am,con una repetición el mismo día a las 3:30 pm (hora del centro;minutos más,minutos menos según el humor y la puntualidad del operador en turno en la consola).5 micro-episodios,de lunes a viernes,con un tema distinto cada semana.

A modo de adelanto,éstos serán los primeros 5 temas:
1) Teoría del caos (tema inicia el lunes 12 de Mayo)
2) Civilización Maya (19 de Mayo)
3) Café (26 de Mayo)

Ah,y por cierto,varias de las entregas previas están también disponibles como podcast.

Phone Doodles

This week has been a quite busy around here —lots of deadlines and lots of phone calls.About the later,here're some of the things I usually doodle while speaking on the phone.There's a lot of animals just because this week I've been 'watching' (actually,just using the TV as background sound —as I've said,I've been busy) the Animal Planet™ channel.
I usually draw these sketches with whichever tool I have on my hand when the phone rings,hence the differences between images.

Seems like it's been quite a while since I posted any dinosaurs around here,so here's an iguanodon.This species lived in the early Cretaceous era.

And yeah,I know the legs are a mess...I drew this while waiting for some friends at a restaurant so I didn't had any chance to use any fossil photo references.Oh swell,maybe next time my memory will work better.

And super heroes come to feast/To taste the flesh not yet deceased

I found this old sketch while doing some spring cleaning yesterday.I originally made it as part of a project for a website that currently no longer exists.The idea was to take the most iconic mexican comic book superheroes and make a tribute story about their last adventure and how came they disappeared from the public eye —no one of these action characters have been published since 1993 or 1995.
The characters' copyrights were not available as they all belong to different companies.And so I drew these redesigns.The project never got made because the website hosting simply expired and never was renewed.

From left to right,the characters are (supposed to be):
Kaliman.A hindu prince.Think Batman without the bat-gadgets but with a more optimistic attitude and with yoga powers that he only used to increase his stamina,cast illusions and fake his own death on every story arc.
Fantomas.Originally based upon the French literary character.Then their comics portrayed him like some sort of James Bond as a modern Robin Hood.
El Santo.Real life luchador (wrestler) that fought gangsters,vampires,werewolves and mad scientists in his spare time.If you like B-movies,chances are you have already seen at least one of his wacky movies.
Chanoc.A smart and strong fisherman that solved crimes and fought wild animals from the jungle.Heavy influenced by Tarzan but also with lots of comedy elements.And soccer sometimes.
El Pantera.An ex-convict (framed for a crime he didn't commit,of course) that learns martial arts in prison and later becomes an undercover police detective.And he solves crimes not because of his smarts but because of pure dumb —and ridiculous— luck.

Batsquatch

As a fan of cryptozoology I knew about sightings of the orang bati —a flying ape creature from Indonesia that eats children for breakfast and lives in a volcano.But recently I learned that there's an American version.Its name? Batsquatch —because,you know,it's half bat and half sasquatch.
The idea of a flying carnivorous ape who lives in a volcano sounds like something out of a pulp,a Silver Age comic book or an action cartoon so I just had to draw it.

News & A Tale From The City

Last couple of weeks have been pretty busy around here —unfortunately not much drawing but typing stuff.Situation should improve by tomorrow.
Anyways,I've got a couple of news:

Now you can buy Fatalysia online right at the brand new store page.If you still don't own your copies of issues 1 & 2,this is the opportunity you probably were waiting for.Or if you like best,bigredcheese will be at SPACE on March 1-2 in Columbus,Ohio with more copies of the comic.
My personal journal used to be a shared account but then LJ decided to stop supporting that kind of journals and so it was transformed into a closed community.I didn't want that so I got it changed back into a personal account.Now,if you had friended that account before,I'm afraid you'll have to friend it again as all those changes required a reset on the friends listings.So,if you want to keep reading about —or discover for the first time— all the wacky stuff I call my life,just add grunidomurmullo to your friends page (disclaimer:things posted there are usually in Spanish —if you don't undestand it,you still can look at the pictues I put there)

And I know that at least 2 of you people out there wanted to read this sort of postmodern fairy tale (?) story since I mentioned it some time ago,so here it is —Enjoy!
